MWA has been commissioned by London Borough Of Ealing to provide contract Management Services and oversee their project at Lambourn Close, Hanwell.
The project involves the dismantling of an existing modular building, built as a permanent structure 13 years ago in Southwark, and transporting the building across the Capital to it’s new home in Lambourn Close. Once installed, the building will be refurbished and reconfigured to provide the larger family sized apartments. The building will be used to provide much needed temporary accommodation to homeless families.
This approach of recycling and moving a building in its entirety typifies MWA’s approach to environmentally and socially responsible design. Re-using this modest building prevents the structure going to landfill and reduces demand on new materials. All whilst providing much needed affordable family accommodation in London
As far as we can ascertain, this is the first time that a permeantly constructed block of flats as been disassembled and re-located to a new site. A UK first.
