Our proposal for new affordable 'starter homes in Burneside, Cumbria.

The scheme comprises of 43 new homes, a community facilities and shared business hub. The development was centered around community gardens and allotments, which were designed to bring enhancements  to both the new homes and the local community.

The new homes were designed to be provide a flexible floor layout and with easy refurbishment and expansion in mind. This would allow the home to grow with the family. This provides additional  bedrooms or home working space, which has become increasingly important over the course of 2020.

MWA believe this scheme of  affordable, flexible and expandable homes, integrated community and business hub facilities and by incorporating generous open space and  lifestyle and amenity enhancements, will become a model for future housing development. Such developments will allow better work life, and by taking advantage of digital working, provide employment opportunities.

The submission was developed in collaboration with ABHR Architects
